Set user preferences

You can customize several aspects of your individual user workspace, as well as your workspace within each of your collaborations. You set preferences once, and eArray applies them to all of your available workspaces.

  1. Click the Workspace tab (or enter a collaboration).

  2. Set the application type.

  3. Click My Account > User Preferences.

  4. In Select Preference Type, select the user preference that you want to set, then click Submit. The table below lists the available preference types, and describes how to set each of them.

Preference

Description/Instructions

Language preference

Sets the language in which eArray appears.

  • In Select Default Language, select the desired language, then click Save.

Currently, eArray is available in English and Chinese.

  • Note: If you inadvertently set your language preference to a language that you do not understand, close your browser window, then log in to eArray again. You can select the appropriate language on the login page.

Default search criterion

Customizes the default search parameters for certain types of searches. This is especially useful if you consistently set particular search parameters in the same way, and want to pre-set some of them. eArray stores default search criteria separately for each application type.

  1. In Select Default Criteria For Page, select the type of search that you want to customize.

  2. Click Select.
The appropriate search parameters pane appears. See the relevant help topic for information about the search parameters on each page.

  3. Set the parameters as desired, then click Save.
    A success message appears.

  4. Click Close.

Search result format

Customizes the column content and layout for certain types of search results pages. eArray stores default search result formats separately for each application type.

  1. In Set Search Result format for Page, select the type of search results page that you want to customize, then click Select.
The Default Search Result Format pane appears.

  2. In All Columns, click the name of a column that you want to include on the particular search results page. Control-click additional column names.

  3. Click Add.
eArray transfers the selected columns to the Selected Columns list. To remove a column name from the Selected Columns list, click its name, then click Remove.

  4. To change the order in which columns appear on the search results page, click a column name in Selected Columns, then click either Move Up or Move Down.

The top-to-bottom order in the Selected Columns list controls the left-to-right order of columns on the particular search results page.

  5. Click Save.
    A success message appears.

  6. Click Close.

Application type

Customizes the application type (Expression, CGH, ChIP, microRNA, SureSelect Capture Array, SureSelect Target Enrichment, or SureSelect RNA Enrichment) that eArray sets for the workspace when you log in.

  1. In Select Application View Type, select the name of the desired application.

  2. Click Save.
    A success message appears.

  3. Click Close.

  4. Note: This preference sets the default application type. You can change the application type to any available type whenever you like.

Manage Filters

Lets you create, edit, and delete custom probe filters. You can also use this preference to set a default probe filter, which you can apply to probe search results with a single click. eArray stores filters separately for each application type, so filters created under one application type are not available if you switch to another type.

  • To create a custom filter, click Create Filter. See How to create a custom probe filter.

  • To edit or delete a probe filter, click the filter's Edit or Delete link in the Actions column. See How to edit or delete a custom probe filter.

  • To select a default filter, click the filter's Set Default link in the Actions column.
To apply the default filter when you view probe search results, click the Apply Default Filter button, if it is available.
