Set application type

In eArray you can work with content for many different application types:

Application type

Description/Details

Expression

Create custom microarrays for gene expression studies. If you want to create Exon microarrays or a microarray that contains probes for large intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), you also select the Expression application type.

CGH

Create custom microarrays for array-based comparative genomic hybridization studies. If you want to create a CGH+SNP microarray, you also select the CGH application type.

ChIP

Create custom microarrays for chromatin immunoprecipitation studies. This application type is also known as ChIP-on-chip.

CH3

Create custom microarrays for array-based methylation studies. For methylation arrays, you select ChIP as the application type, then further designate your array as a CH3 array when you create it.

microRNA

Create custom microarrays for microRNA studies.

SureSelect Capture Array

Create custom microarrays for array-based DNA capture. You can use these microarrays to harvest genomic fragments of interest for sequencing.

SureSelect Target Enrichment

Create custom oligonucleotide bait libraries that you can use to harvest genomic fragments of interest for sequencing. See SureSelect Target Enrichment libraries.

SureSelect RNA Enrichment

Create custom oligonucleotide bait libraries that you can use to enrich specific RNA species in a pool of RNAs for sequencing. See SureSelect RNA Enrichment libraries.

Because the design requirements for each of these application types differ, the available content and functionality within eArray differ depending on application type. You can change the application type at any time. You can also set a particular application type as your default, and have eArray select it automatically each time you log in.

  1. Click the Workspace tab, or enter a collaboration.

The current application type appears in red beside the Switch Application Type link.

  2. Click Switch Application Type.

    A selection window appears.

  3. In Select View Type, select the desired application type.

  4. Do one of the following:

eArray sets the new application type.
