Create bait group |
|
Bait groups are collections of baits associated by logical criteria. You organize baits into bait groups, which you can then use as building blocks to create bait libraries. See Bait groups. eArray lets you create bait groups in several ways:
Create bait group from existing baits
Create bait group from bait tiling results
Create a bait group from an existing bait group
You can create a bait group from Agilent catalog baits and from other baits to which you have access.
Search
for the desired baits.
Search results appear.
Select the desired baits from the search results. Follow these guidelines:
To select individual baits, mark the check boxes next to their names.
To select all of the baits on the current page, mark the check box in the heading row of the Search Results table.
To go to another page of results, click one of the Pages links. eArray remembers the baits that you select as you go from page to page.
To reverse the order of baits in the list, click the Bait ID column heading.
To select all of the baits on every page of the search results, mark Select Entire Result.
Click Create
Bait Group.
The Create Bait Group page appears. The list of selected baits appears
at the bottom of the page. If there are many baits, eArray paginates
the list. To go to a another page of baits, click one of the Pages links. The list is sorted
by Bait ID. To reverse the order of the baits, click the Bait
ID column heading.
Set the following bait group parameters. All parameters are required unless otherwise indicated. The parameters that do not appear below are set by the system, and are read-only.
Parameter |
Instructions/Details |
Bait Group Name |
Type a name for the bait group. This name becomes the way eArray references the bait group in search results, bait group lists, view pages, and the like. |
Status |
Select either Incomplete or Locked. By default, eArray creates your new bait group with a status of Incomplete. If you set the status to Locked, you will not be able to further edit the bait group. |
Description |
(Optional) Type a brief description. |
Keyword |
(Optional) Type a keyword, or multiple keywords separated by pipe "|" characters, commas, or semicolons. Keywords can make it easier to find the bait group when you search or browse for it. |
Folder |
Select the folder where you want eArray to save the new bait group. Only the folders to which you have access appear in the list. |
Tiling Frequency |
(SureSelect RNA Enrichment application type only) This value is the approximate number of baits that cover each base in the region(s) that are represented in the bait group. It is used later by eArray to calculate the base coverage for a library that contains this bait group. |
If desired, add or remove baits, as described below.
To add baits

A search page appears.

can also monitor the status of the job on your workspace or collaboration
home page in the Pending Jobs pane.
Click Close.
You can upload baits to introduce new content into eArray. As part of the upload process, you can create a new bait group that contains the uploaded baits.
Upload baits as described
in Upload baits. When you select the
Upload Type in the Upload Bait File Details pane, select Create
New Bait Group, then type a name for the bait group.
After your upload is finished, eArray creates the requested bait group.
You can then search for the bait
group, edit it, and use it to
create a library.
Bait Tiling creates baits that evenly cover specified genomic regions or transcript sequences. You can use the baits that Bait Tiling generates to create a new bait group. The new bait group has the same name as the Bait tiling job.
Before you can create a new bait group with Bait Tiling results, you must set up a Bait Tiling job, and submit it to Agilent for processing. See Bait Tiling (SureSelect Target Enrichment) and Bait Tiling (SureSelect RNA Enrichment). When your job is finished, it appears in the Search Results pane on the Bait Tiling page with a status of Completed. eArray lets you create a bait group with the following procedure once for each set of Bait Tiling results. If you need more than one copy or version of this bait group, use the Copy Bait Group command.
Note: If you use one of the Bait Tiling Wizards to create a library, eArray automatically creates a bait group that contains the baits that were created by the Bait Tiling process. See Bait Tiling wizard (SureSelect Target Enrichment) and Bait Tiling wizard (SureSelect RNA Enrichment).
Set the application type to SureSelect Target Enrichment or SureSelect RNA Enrichment.
Click the Workspace tab.
Click Baits
> Bait Tiling.
The Bait Tiling page appears. A search results pane appears at the
bottom of the page that lists your current Bait Tiling jobs.
In the Actions
column of the Search Results pane, next to the desired completed job,
click Create Bait Group.
A message tells you that you will receive an e-mail when your bait
group has been created. After you receive this e-mail, you can search and browse
for the new bait group, and use it in a library. The new bait group
has the same name as the corresponding Bait Tiling job.
Click Exit.
When you create a new bait group from an existing one, you search for the existing bait group and make a copy of it. You then make edits to this copy. This method is useful if the existing bait group contains most or all of the baits that you want in your new bait group.
