Set up an account

Use these instructions to set up your SureDesign account, either as part of a new workgroup or as part of a workgroup that already exists for your lab, department, or research group. See About SureDesign workgroups and accounts for more information on how accounts and workgroups are structured.

If you are a workgroup administrator and you want to set up a new account for a colleague, see the instructions in Manage workgroup accounts.

  1. In an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari), open the SureDesign website (www.agilent.com/genomics/suredesign).

  2. Below the Sign In fields, click Register.

The Registration dialog box opens to Step 1.

  3. Type your e-mail address in the Email Address field.

Your e-mail address serves as your user ID for logging in to SureDesign.

  4. Click Next to advance to Step 2 of the Registration dialog box.

To ensure the validity of your e-mail address, Agilent e-mails you the validation key needed to continue the registration process.

  5. When you receive your e-mail from Agilent SureDesign, copy the validation key and paste it into the Validation Key field on the Registration dialog box.

  6. In the Password field, type a password for your account and then retype the password in the Confirm Password field.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least 3 of the following 4 attributes:

·        Uppercase alphabetic character

·        Lowercase alphabetic character

·        Special character

·        Number

  1. Type your first name, middle initial (M.I.), and last name into the three Name fields.

    The M.I. field is optional.

  2. In the fields provided for your address (Address 1, Address 2, Country, and City, State, Zipcode), type the address of your organization, company, or institution.

The Address 2 field is optional.

  3. In the Phone Number fields, type the primary telephone number where Agilent can reach you. If desired, type a secondary telephone number in the Alternate Phone Number fields.

The first field is for your country code and the second field is for your telephone number. The third field is optional and provides a space for an extension number.

  4. Click Next to advance to Step 3 of the Registration dialog box.

If the program detects any errors in the information you provided in Step 2, you will see an alert symbol next to the field when you attempt to advance to Step 3. Move your cursor over the symbol so see an explanation of the error.

  5. Select either Create New Workgroup (to create a new SureDesign workgroup that you administer) or Join Existing Workgroup (to join a workgroup that already exists for your organization). See About SureDesign workgroups and accounts for more information about these options.

·        If you selected Create New Workgroup:

    1. Type a name for your new workgroup in the Workgroup field.

    2. Click Finish. A message box opens confirming that your new workgroup has been created.

    3. Click Close to close the message box. You are now able to sign in to SureDesign using your new account.

·        If you selected Join Existing Workgroup: A list of suggested existing workgroups appears. SureDesign generates this list based on your e-mail domain and address.

    1. Select one of the suggested workgroups, or, if your desired workgroup is not listed, enter the workgroup name or the workgroup administrator's e-mail address in the field at the bottom of the dialog box.

    2. Click Finish. A message box opens confirming that your request to join the specified workgroup has been forwarded to the workgroup administrator.

    3. Click Close to close the message box. SureDesign will notify you by e-mail when the workgroup administrator approves your request to join the workgroup. Contact the administrator directly if your request is not approved in a timely manner. You cannot log in to SureDesign until the administrator approves your request.
