View probe group

You can view information about a specific probe group of any status, including the list of probes in the probe group, probe annotation, and statistical information.

  1. Search or Browse for the probe group that you want to view.

A list of probe groups appears.

  2. In the Actions column of the list, next to the desired probe group, click View.

The View Probe Group page opens in a new window. The top pane contains the following information. All items are read-only, except as noted.

Parameter

Details

Probe Group Name

Name of the probe group, assigned by its creator.

Status

Incomplete – Probe group can be edited.

Locked – Probe group cannot be edited, nor can it be unlocked.

Created by

User who defined the probe group and saved it.

Description

Brief description of probe group, assigned by its creator.

Keyword

One or more search keywords. Multiple terms are separated by commas.

High Density

This check box is marked if the probe group contains probes from a High Density (HD) probe search.

No. of Probes

Total number of probes in the probe group.

Created Date

Date the probe group was first saved in eArray.

Microarray Count Using this Probe Group

Number of microarray designs that contain this probe group. Click Show Microarrays, if it appears, to view a list of these microarrays.

Search Criteria

Click Click Here, if it appears, to view the most recent criteria used to search probes contained in the probe group. The search criteria appear in a new window.

These search criteria can give you additional insight into how the probes in the probe group were selected.

  1. The Search Results pane lists the probes in the probe group. Available annotation appears with each probe. For the microRNA application type, eArray groups probes by the microRNA target to which they apply.

Perform the following tasks, as needed:

Task

Instructions/Details

Navigate or customize the list of probes

Do any of the following:

  • To navigate multiple pages of results, use the Pages links above or below the list.

  • To apply a filter to the list of probes, click Apply Default Filter, or Apply Filter. See How to apply a probe filter.

Show probe sequences and statistics

Click Show Statistics. A new window opens with a list of the probes in the probe group, their sequences, and calculated statistics based on sequence length and base composition. To download the information from this window, click Download. Note: This command is not available for microRNA type probes.

Download Probes

To download the probe list, click Download. For more information, see Download probe group.

View Accessions

In the Accessions column, click any accession that appears as a link to open the Web site of the applicable database in a new browser window.

View Chromosomal Location

In the Chromosomal Location column, two icons can appear. Click ensembl_icon.gif to open the Ensembl genome browser in a new window. Click ucsc_icon.gif to open the UCSC genome browser in a new window. In both cases, eArray automatically transfers the specific chromosomal location data to the genome browser.

  1. Click Close.

  2. Note: You cannot view or download the nucleotide sequences of the probes in a SNP probe group.
