Collaborations

With eArray you can set up and participate in collaborations with others. A collaboration is a special workspace, with its own home page and folders, where more than one person can work. Each collaboration workspace contains many of the same tools and commands that you find in your individual user workspace. Any registered user can set up a collaboration.

When you initially create a collaboration, you create the distinct collaboration workspace that others can access. You can invite others to join the collaboration at that time, and you can invite more people later. Only the people that you invite to the collaboration can access its workspace. eArray assigns the creator of a collaboration the role of collaboration lead.

eArray sends invitation e-mails to the people specified by the creator of the collaboration. Invitees do not initially need to be eArray registered users — if they are not registered, the system guides them through the registration and login process when they accept their invitations. Collaboration leads can invite more people to collaborate, monitor who has responded to invitations, send reminder invitations, and if necessary, revoke invitations.

Creators of a collaboration and their invitees can enter the collaboration workspace and participate in the collaboration. They can exit the collaboration, and return to it at any time. While in the collaboration workspace, participants have specific roles that define the tasks they are allowed to perform. Collaboration leads initially assign those roles when they invite people to join the collaboration, but they can change those roles as needed. Leads can also assign other participants a role of collaboration lead. Collaboration leads can also perform certain administrative tasks related to the collaboration.
